About Marian

Marian studied at the Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge, for a BA (Hons) degree in Sociology and Politics, and an MA in Women's studies. In 1998 she completed a Diploma in Counselling at The Huntingdonshire Regional College, and in 2004 a Certificate in Supervision and Mentoring Skills. She has also completed an introductory training in Psychosexual Counselling.

Marian has worked part-time with mental health service users at a drop-in centre in Cambridge. She is currently taking referrals from two employment assistance providers and from Parks Therapy Centre, St Neots. Marian also works as a supervisor for other counsellors, and receives regular supervision herself, in accordance with BACP guidelines.

Marian's practice draws on various therapeutic models to suit the needs of the client; she often takes a Jungian approach, which recognises the importance of self-acceptance. A key element of her work is helping individuals to get in touch with their identity and also to explore their potential for spiritual development if they wish. She can provide long-term therapy if required, but also works within a shorter timespan to access possible life or behavioural changes, using solution-focused therapy and cognitive behavioural methods. Marian also has experience of working with the bereaved.

Marian is a Registered Member MBACP (British Association of Counselling and Pschotherapy) and works within their Code of Ethics.
